laziness rather than lack of inspiration...

... hello world and welcome to 2013...

... " but it's April?" i hear you say... yes, i know, i have again been a bad blogger...

... as the title suggests, i have been loving lots of things so far this year, discovering new trends, people, places and blogs, but with IG, Tumblr & Pinterest,  they make it so much easier to share with the world my latest crushes...

... brownie points must go out to those who still think of new things to type, who collect their favourite images from the week, who think of a witty title and then put it all together in one glorious place... rather than a selfie on IG, words on Tumblr or a new board on Pinterest...

... i love this blog, i really do... i was having a look through my old posts this week whilst trying to find something and it encouraged me to get back into it... i remember when i started this blog - it was my little place in the world where I would post what i liked, knowing it wasn't out there for the world to see, like a Facebook status... 

... so here goes - my first posts of 2013... i wont be catching up on the year so far, lets just take it from here ...

- reading through my very first blog posts...oh so funny!! think I still have the same tone and general "style" but I definitely wrote more in the early days, so that is definitely something to try and do again...

- trying to organise to catch up with the lovely Miss L, properly for the first time since she got back from South Africa...

... trying to not get too excited that it's my birthday in 6 days! I'm not eight anymore...

... not doing the dishes. or the vacuuming. blah. I did three loads of washing yesterday, surely that's enough?!

...listening to a combination of Kayne West, The Jezabels and Florence + The Machine...

... thinking of the fabulous pants I bought yesterday and admiring my new silver nails...

... quite pleased at all the blog posts I have managed over the last few days!

...it's been a while between drinks...!

...too long in fact! Over a month! Looking back at my number of posts per month, you can definitely tell when I have been busy and when I have been free as a bird! The period from Novemeber to mid Feburary saw me jobless, and I sure did use my time wisely by blogging as much as I could! These days, having settled into my new EA role, I have less time at home and even less time in front of a computer doing what I love.. searing the wonderful world-wide web for pictures of maxi skirts, nail polish, shoes and other fabulous inspiration... I mentioned to the wonderful Miss I that I am currently blogging in my mind - thinking of posts that would be perfect if only you could read my mind...! Hoping to have some time this weekend to share some of my current inspirations, backlog of new polish purchases and cute lil quotes... .. 'Till then.... xx

My 10 Things...

I have borrowed this from the amazing Sarah Wilson, as I thought it was a really great list to think about... Sitting down to write it today I realised that my ten things would most likely differ from day to day, depending on my mood...So here goes...

Sarah had made this a 13-pointer, I took out one, so mine is a 12-point list...

My 10 Things:

1. What I wear: as much of my wardrobe as I can. At the moment, anything grey or coral or peach...

2. What I eat: toast. I would eat it all day if I could, with butter and Promite. NOT vegemite. Sorry.

3. How I hydrate: love love water, but need to get in to the habit of drinking more, especially as my skin starts to dry out. Other than water, I love tea. Nothing fancy, just good old tetley’s with a bit of sugar please.

4. My favourite thing to do when I’m a bit flat: be flat... sometimes you need to give in to it...

5. My other favourite thing to do when I’m a bit flat: paint my nails while watching sex and the city or friends or will and grace... laughter and shiny pretty colours help lift the funk.

6. My favourite smell: as lame as this may sound –my boy. His pillow. Just him.

7. My other favourite smells: Coffee. Baking. Lavender. Babies

8. What I do for fun: re-arrange my wardrobe. Watch a movie. Read a book. Flip through my fashion magazines. Go shopping.

9. How I feel better: have a shower. Being totally clean makes me feel better. And put together, if that makes sense... Other than that, putting on a sad song and crying. I always know which ones will do it too. Crying can also make me feel clean, and it’s good to let it all out...

10. What nourishes me: Fresh air. Silence. Hugs. Hugs are underrated and under-given...

11. My guilty pleasures: Cheese. A whole wheel of camembert with biscuits, and more recently, quince paste. Really dark chocolate, just nibbling on a square. Bubble baths, with candles and a glass of wine. I usually bring a book in too, but it doesn’t often get read. Just lying there in the warm is super lovely.

12. My favourite feelings: Waking up after a great sleep in. Sunshine. Achieving something great.

... I am trying VERY hard not to purchase the black Mia Wedges from Sportsgirl I have been thinking about for the past three days...

...I have bright red nail polish on...

...I am very much looking forward to my very first Coles Online order being delivered tomorrow... Oh so great to shop without a trolley and a time limit...! Oh, and other PEOPLE!

...I am wondering if I will ever get through my 1000+ unread items in Google Reader, or if I should just "mark all as read"...

...I am eagerly awaiting lots of parcels from my postman...

...I am really not reading as much as I should be...

...I am trying not to think about how close Christmas is...

...I still cannot believe that the "new" Myer cost $300 million dollars... Mother Dearest and I strolled through at the weekend and I think it needs to be seen to be believed...

...I am missing too many people that I care to think about...

...I need a hug...

About whether or not to take my makeup off before I go to bed... That I really really feel like a cup of tea and some chocolate but really should go and take my makeup off and go to bed...

I attended Fashion Journal's 100th Issue Birthday Party today, as a plus-one of the wonderful Miss S, and had a great time! Free vodka cocktails, ice-cream and getting to meet some of my Twitter "friends", plus getting dressed up, made for a fun mid-week adventure!

Looking forward to:

Seeing one of my bestest friends tomorrow and her adorable little boy as well as working at the Fleur Wood Warehouse Sale on Friday!

Lusting over:

Every maxi skirt I come across, as well as flat ankle boots for summer.

Am very very happy to already own a few of both, but i'm sure it won't stop there...!!

The Last Time I...

So I "borrowed" this idea from Mia over at Mamamia - she asked the oh-so-wonderful Zoe Foster these questions in a video chat...

So here goes...

Was jealous:

I would really like to say I'm not usually a jealous person, but maybe hearing about a friends already-paid-off holiday for March next year turned me a lil green...

Cried:

Watching "Life As We Know It" at the cinemas with my mum two weeks ago...I think... If so, that is a lonnng time for me between tears!

Was Drunk:

Saturday night. Definitely.

Over Spent:

Today. Bought a beautiful ring from Etsy. Even though it was only $25, I currently have a negative monetary figure against my name and really shouldn't be buying ANYTHING!

Was Inspired:

As corny as it sounds, ever since I have left my 9-to-5 office job to search for my dream job, every day I am inspired. So many articles seem to jump out at me, people's success stories leave me smiling instead of frowning, everything has a hidden meaning....I love it!

Watched the sunrise:

I use to start work at 7am, so quite often the sun would be rising as I got ready for or was leaving for the day. So in answer, probably not for a long time!

As I type this, I vow to watch the sunrise at least twice before the end of the year...

Made a huge mistake or did something I regret:

Nothing really springs to mind here. I think all my decisions in the last 2 years or so have been good ones, and probably the only things I regret have to do with shopping and spending too much!

Listened to my gut:

The day I decided to leave my job without having another one to go to.

Best decision ever!

Fell in love:

Does a shopping purchase count? lol...If so , then my beautiful Etsy ring I purchased today as well as the 2 gorgeous Staple the Label capes I purchased last week... Most definitely love!

If shopping purchases don't count, then does "falling in love" with new girlfriends?

Have made some truly truly amazing friendships in the last 10 months or so, these lovely ladies make me smile each and every day...

And if they don't count, then the last ( and only...) time I have fallen in love was with my beautiful man, 5 and a half years ago...

Cue "awwwww"...!!

Dinner Guests....

Flipping through my copy of Interview on the weekend, I re-read the articles on dinner guests... It's that age-old question - if you could invite anyone to dinner; living, dead or celebrity, who would it be?

I asked my dinner guests that night, and we had a giggle and a chat over who we would invite...

So I could have someone normal to talk to and say "oh my god can you believe who we have over for dinner?!?"

I recently visited his exhibition in Melbourne and was just AMAZED at how creative and talented he is!

Otis Redding or Al Green (couldn't decide!)

So they could sing to us... I'm sure they would also have wonderful stories from the era in which they lived.

Anna Wintour and Anna Della Russo

First I need to check if they are friends...lol... they would add a fabulous fashion element to my dinner I think!

I adore Spics & Specs and just love how interactive he is with his guests every week.

Because I think she is beautiful, I would love to hear all about the filming of Gossip Girl and then the Anna's would have someone else to chat to...

I think this is a great question to ask your dinner guests, or anyone really, when you are feeling a lil bored...

Public Announcement...

Looking back over my blog posts of late, I can see that I have just been posting pics and my random thoughts on them.... I would love love to post more original content, but as I don't have the Internet at home at the moment, all blogging is sneakily done at work!

I do have a list of bits & pieces I would like to write up, as well as some reviews of some fab books I have read lately, so hopefully I can find some time to get to work on them, so my blog can actually live up to it's title...

This past weekend, the boy and I were in QLD for a family wedding...

...to say it was amazing and a much needed break is an understatement...!!

Slowly getting used to my life again... Sigh...

I have a few post-ideas, so hopefully I can catch up on my work super quick and get them up...

blog name...?

Wonder how many times is "normal" to change the name of your blog...?

I wasn't really happy with the original name , even though it didn't really mean anything...

Thought about "through my eyes..." but I think that implies that the blog will be slightly more thought provoking than it currently is, and I don't think I'm up to that!

I am currently reading "Fabulous Nobodies" by Lee Tulloch, which I have been DYING to get my hands on for the longest time... Love it already and I'm only a few pages in! Fav bit so far is that the main girl, Reality, names all her dresses and thinks fashion is like oxygen...

So I suppose the new title, Fabulous Somebodies, is in honour of that book...

Let's see how long this name lasts...

The Wonderful World of Blogging...

A few months ago I discovered Google Reader.

It changed my life.

I used to have all my favourite blogs saved in my "Favourites" on my iPhone and it used to take ages to go through them all, not to mention any new ones I happened to click on.

So now I have them all saved and everyday I get to see all the wonderful new posts!

This morning I had over 400 new items, as I hadn't had a chance on Friday or over the weekend to read them...

It was quite fun today to go through them all, but I did notice that quite a few people blogged on exactly the same thing, the most note-able being an editorial featuring model-of-the moment Bambi, Sophia Coppolla's new movie trailer and the fabulous going-ons in Italy...

I suppose then that all 3 of those items are definitely hitting the spot with the right people...

- wearing my sister perfume, which is kinda funny... but it smells really yummy, so I may do it more often...!

- getting excited for dinner tonight with my ''sisters'' - two girls who I met through work who insist we are all the same...lol...

- wearing my favourit-ist thrifted peach men's shirt. Today is a better day for this reason alone!

- happy that my boy is home from his boys weekend safe and sound.... You know what they say about absence!

And so it begins...

Hi All!

I have been thinking about starting a blog for a little while now... I come across so many incredible blogs/sites, and it's so great that you are all sharing the things that you are passionate about, and that people are reading and responding to it!

I am hoping this can be a place where I can jot down bits and pieces about me and my life, about the things I love and opinions I have and would like to share...

If you are wondering about the title of the blog, well, I wanted it to be all encompassing... I didn't want to give it a fashion-y or style-y name, because I didn't want to constantly measure up to something... This way it can be a lil more random, or so I hope!

Now, I have never done this before so I am not 100% on all the rules and regulations... I'm pretty sure I have to link back any images/wording I get from anywhere else, but if I'm doing something else wrong, please someone tell me!

And so it begins...
